Malta International Airport (MLA)
Travel and Ground Transport

(Luqa, Malta)

Malta International Airport (MLA) has a reasonably good ground transport infrastructure and passengers will find that they can travel to almost anywhere on the island without too much difficulty.

A regular bus service operates between the airport and Valleta, while taxis are available for destinations further afield. Popular hotels generally offer shuttle services for visitors staying at their establishments.

Buses

Buses run regularly from outside the airport's Check-in Hall to the principal bus depot in Valleta.

Shuttle Buses

The bus service described above is the only bus transportation option between the airport and city destinations. Gozo airport shuttles are also popular and connect Malta Airport with the port of Cirkewwa.

Hotel Shuttles

Major hotels provide courtesy shuttles for guests between the airport and their establishments. Services such as this are not always offered on-demand and it may be necessary to arrange this service prior to your arrival. Passengers are advised to contact their hotel with regards to the availability of shuttle services.

Trains

There are currently no rail connections to Malta International Airport (MLA).

Taxi Cabs

Taxis are available from outside the airport and charges are based on a fixed rate system. Passengers are obliged to pay and obtain a taxi coupon at the counter in the airport terminal building before travel.

Limousines

There are no limousine companies operating from the airport. However passengers can contact one of the island's limousine rental companies such as Wembley Car Hire (tel: +356 34 53 53) and make arrangements to be picked up on arrival.
